About
Professor Nuzhat Parveen Khan (born 4 July 1964, Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh) is a distinguished Indian academic, author, and legal scholar with over three decades of experience in legal education and research. She is a Professor & Former Dean at the Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi — a Central University — where she joined in 1992.
During her Deanship (2016–2019), JMI's Faculty of Law was ranked #1 in India by India Today (2017). She subsequently served as Dean at the School of Law, Bennett University (Times of India Group), Greater Noida (2020–2022).
She is a Member of the Advisory Board of India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER), Goa — the first international law university established by the Bar Council of India Trust. She was also nominated to the Library Committee of the Indian Law Institute by the Hon'ble Chief Justice of India, and appointed as Institutional Level Ombudsman at NLU Delhi (UGC Regulation, 2023).
Her scholarship spans constitutional law, women and child rights, environmental law, forensic science and law, cyber law, and socio-economic offences. She has authored more than 16 books and over 50 peer-reviewed articles, and has presented research at international conferences in Harvard, Singapore, and across South Asia. She is also a frequent resource person on LokSabha TV, Zee TV, and Doordarshan on gender and legal issues.
Prof. Khan successfully completed HLS2X: Contract Law — From Trust to Promise to Contract offered by HarvardX, conducted by Prof. Charles Fried of Harvard Law School.
